Charitable Challenge Enters Round 2 as Team Vista Takes on Teams from other area Universities

Concordia University Wisconsin student groups will once again be participating in a Kapco Charitable Challenge event being sponsored by Kapco Metal Stampings President Jim Kacmarcik.

On Wednesday, January 27th selected student groups from Concordia University, Marquette University and Wisconsin Lutheran College will meet at The Bradley Center prior to a Milwaukee Bucks game where they will receive instructions on this year’s challenge before a pre-game meal.

In the spring of 2008, Kacmarcik gave six Concordia University student groups $1,000, with the idea to help others less fortunate with the money.  Each group was given 10 days to use all the money by either giving it away or using it creatively to make an even bigger contribution.  Four judges reviewed the initial presentations and determined that two groups were deserving of advancing to the final round, where they were awarded an additional $2,000 apiece.

A VISTA Student Ambassador group was ultimately declared the winner, after raising an astounding $15,000 for a Grafton family facing severe medical issues.

“I was absolutely thrilled with the way in which these Concordia students embraced the Kapco Charitable Challenge,” noted Kacmarcik, whose company is located in Grafton.  “They were so creative in researching and indentifying those who were really in need and they did an amazing job of increasing their funds through their resources.”

Kapco is committed to the local community by giving back to area children’s organizations/charities. For further information on the 2010 challenge, please contact Diana Raasch, Director of Parent and Alumni Relations at Concordia University Wisconsin, diana.raasch@cuw.edu or 262-243-4540.
