ACHIEVE Ministry
ACHIEVE Ministry

The ACHIEVE ministry is designed to assist new students who may benefit from individualized academic support during their first year at CUW.  ACHIEVE promotes college success by connecting students with campus resources and fostering their engagement in the CUW community.  Through participating in ACHIEVE, students will receive personalized assistance intended to ease the transition into college and make them more confident learners.

 

Benefits of ACHIEVE

  1. Participation in a learning community

  2. Connection to CUW faculty and staff

  3. Assessment of academic needs

  4. Exposure to student support services and  extracurricular activities

  5. Information and reminders about deadlines and other logistical matters

  6. Enrollment in cohorted classes

  7. Monitored progress and early intervention when necessary

 

 

Responsibilities of ACHIEVE Participants

  1. Attend monthly ACHIEVE meetings

  2. Enroll in ACHIEVE-designated LA 105 and ENG 104 courses

  3. Utilize resources and attend events recommended by ACHIEVE personnel

  4. Regularly check CUW email and portal for ACHIEVE updates

  5. Meet with academic advisor bi-weekly

  6. Take personal responsibility for learning and communicate needs

    Getting involved and feeling connected on campus
  4. November
    ACHIEVE Monthly Meeting

    Managing stress and test anxiety
  5. December
    ACHIEVE Monthly Meeting

    First semester reflection, checking semester grades, and winterim
  6. January
    ACHIEVE Spring Semester Kick-off

    Second semester plan for success: engaging in learning and utilizing resources
  7. February
    ACHIEVE Monthly Meeting

    Broadening your horizons through service or educational opportunities
  8. March
    ACHIEVE Monthly Meeting

    Utilizing your academic advisor and registering for 2009-2010 classes
  9. April
    ACHIEVE Monthly Meeting

    Finding a job, internship, and volunteer opportunity and resume writing
  10. May
    ACHIEVE Graduation Party
