LA 105 Course Information

LA 105, Higher Education: A New Experience, is a dynamic course structured to enhance student success at the university level and beyond, in the classroom and in life.

That over-all purpose is achieved via several specific objectives such as:

  1. developing a support group among classmates;
  2. gaining a better understanding of the value and intent of higher CHRISTIAN education;
  3. becoming acquainted with key support services on campus;
  4. learning CUW's on-line registration process;
  5. enhancing academic skills related to taking notes, studying, doing research, writing papers, and maintaining academic honesty;
  6. improving time management skills,
  7. fostering healthy interpersonal relations,
  8. making God-pleasing decisions regarding alcohol, drugs, and sex;
  9. engaging in self-discovery of personal values, work values, and vocational choice; and
  10. exploring a servant's heart via a service project.

While each instructor has the freedom to teach LA 105 in his/her unique style, there is a common core of topics that each section must address.

Additionally, LA 105 instructors created a set of minimum academic standards that govern each section.
