The Office of Institutional Research (OIR) at CUW provides analytical decision support services to university administration and faculty as well as various other university constituents. Its primary function is to serve as a catalyst in the efficient collection, analysis and dissemination of data pertaining to the university. The OIR achieves its mission by serving as the focal point of university data and by conducting and supporting various studies pertaining to institutional improvement. While a substantial amount of independent research is performed by the office, a significant amount of the office's resources are devoted to the support of university administration, committees, departments, faculty, and staff.
GOALS:
1. Data structure, organization, and accessibility. A primary goal of OIR is to ensure that historical, current and future data is structured, organized, and accessible.
2. Assessment. Another important goal of the Institutional Research Office is to facilitate and support the assessment of student learning. This is done as follows:
- Department assessment, done in collaboration with department faculty.
- University assessment of core competencies, done in collaboration with university faculty.
3. Independent Research. The OIR conducts independent research that is original and also collaborative with studies that are currently being conducted by various offices or committees.
The OIR intends to be the first contact for all university data and research needs.
