The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) who has accredited athletic training education programs until 2006 has been replaced by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE). Though athletic training education programs initially were accredited by CAAHEP all athletic training education programs are now accredited through CAATE.
The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) certifies that the Athletic Training Education Program at Concordia University Wisconsin has completed an accreditation review and is judged to be in compliance with the nationally established standards starting from the 10th day of September 2004 and expiring the 30th day of September 2009.
The president of CAAHEP stated in a letter that " The recent review conducted by the Joint Review Committee on Educational Programs in Athletic Training (JRC-AT) and CAAHEP's Board of Directors recognizes the program's substantial compliance with the nationally established accreditation standards.
The Chair, Julie A. Rochester of the JRC-AT Site visit team stated in her overview of the Athletic Training Education Program at Concordia University Wisconsin:
"It appears Concordia University has taken steps to ensure this institution offers an athletic training education program that has the potential to be as good as any other athletic training education program in the country".
"The Athletic Training Educational Facilities and Athletic Training Facilities on campus are of the highest quality"
"The quality and amount of available therapeutic modalities and rehabilitation equipment available for student education far exceeds standards and guidelines"
A strength of the program is "The commitment and determination of the ATEP Program Director to develop a superior Athletic Training Education Program"
I would like to thank all the Athletic Training Faculty and Staff, Dr. Annette Caruso-Howatt, Dr. Leah Dvorak, Dr. Gaylund Stone, and the administration for their support, confidence, and help in making this dream a reality. Without everyone's participation the end result of accreditation would not be realized.
Thank you, Russell De Lap, ATEP Director
