Paul H. Zietlow (Ph. D. in Organizational Communication, Ohio State University, 1986) is an Associate Professor of Communication and serves as Chair of the Communication Department. He directs the Business Communication major and serves as Advisor to the Communication Club. In addition, he teaches E-Learning graduate courses in Family Studies, Managerial Communication, and Education. Dr. Zietlow was the first Supervising Director of the E-Learning Master's Degree Programs offered in the Concordia University Wisconsin Graduate School.
Dr. Zietlow is a single parent with two children: David and Anne. He enjoys walleye and musky fishing, camping, hunting, reading, and writing.
Prior to joining the Concordia faculty in 1992, Dr. Zietlow taught Communication at Ripon College (1991-1992), the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee (1984-1985), and Ohio State University (1979-1983). He has taught graduate and undergraduate family courses such as Marriage and Family Relations, Families, Schools,and Communities, and Selected Issues in the Family. In addition, he specializes in Business and Managerial Communication, and has taught Organizational Communication, Interviewing Principles, Business Writing, Advanced Public Speaking, Conflict Management, Group Dynamics and Leadership, Interpersonal Communication, Argumentation and Debate, and Rhetoric of Black Americans.
For his doctoral dissertation, Dr. Zietlow conducted an extensive study of 77 married couples in the metropolitan Milwaukee area. This research on marriage, relational conflict, and the lifespan has been published in journals including Journal of Personal and Social Relationships, Communication Monographs , Communication Research , Journal of Marriage and the Family , and Human Communication Research. In addition, his research is referenced in several textbooks on conflict and family relationships.
