Dr. William R. Cario earned his B.A. in history and secondary education at Concordia College, River Forest, Illinois, and his M.A. and Ph.D. in American history at New York University, New York, New York. Before coming to CUW, he taught social studies at elementary and secondary schools in New York City; he also taught at University of Maryland -- Baltimore County and Wesley College, Dover, Delaware. At Concordia he teaches courses in United States and Latin American history while serving as the university's Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs. His responsibilities include: director of National and International Study; liaison to undergraduate adjunct faculty; and coordinator of the CUW summer school program. He co-edited, with Dr. Angus Menuge and Dr. Alberto Garcia, and contributed an article to, a new book, Christ and Culture in Paradox (St. Louis: Concordia Academic Press, 1999). Bill lives in Mequon with his wife Cheryl and two sons David and Stephen. |

Van A. Mobley has served as Assistant Professor of Economics and History since 2001. Before coming to Concordia University Wisconsin he taught at Carroll College and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Outside Academia Dr. Mobley has held positions in finance, industry, and politics. Dr. Mobley earned his undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University and his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has also been a fellow at the United States Military Academy's Summer Seminar in Military History. Dr. Mobley writes on the relationships among American defense, economic, and foreign policy. |

Dr. John C. Horgan earned his B.A. in history and political science at Marquette University, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, his M.A. in history at Marquette University and Doctor of Arts in Modern World History at St. John's University in New York, New York. In addition to his service at CUW, he taught history at Milwaukee Area Technical College, Suffolk County Community College (New York) and the New School for Social Research (New York). At Concordia he teaches courses in Western and American civilization, the Non-Western World, modern Europe, France, Germany, America, and Africa while serving as the History Department's webmaster. In 2004 he presented a paper to the American Historical Association's annual meeting in Washington, D.C. on economic sanctions, American churches and South Africa. In 2007 his articles on French perspectives of the United States and international perspectives of U.S. environmental policy were published in Global Perspectives on the United States (Berkshire Publishing). His on-going reading and research interests include civilian relief during World War I, plagues and diseases in world history and food history. John lives in Milwaukee with his wife Maureen and two children Tommy and Maura.
