Concordia University Wisconsin offers a bachelors degree in mathematics and a licensable secondary education teaching degree in mathematics.  A minor in mathematics, which is licensable,  and a licensable mathematics minor for elementary education are also available.  Concordia offers the courses necessary for teacher licensing in Wisconsin.

 

Most of the mathematics courses at Concordia integrate technology and small group work.  Hands-on learning and teaching methodology are integrated into the mathematics curriculum for elementary education preservice teachers.

 

The mathematics department faculty possess a variety of expertise in the areas of education, actuarial science, computer science, meteorology, and business.

 

The entire program of curricular and co-curricular activities at Concordia is governed by a Christian philosophy of education from a Lutheran perspective.  The program addresses the growth of the whole student:  spiritual, academic, social, physical, and personal.

Areas of Emphasis:

The major is a broad overview of all areas of mathematics including calculus, linear algebra/differential equations, geometry, abstract algebra, and real analysis.

 

Complementary Majors/Minors:

Most are in the secondary education program. Others include philosophy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and theology.

 

Strengths of CUW's Program:

Small classes include group work and hands-on learning. Faculty possess expertise in a variety of areas including education, actuarial science, computer science, meteorology, and business. Classes are taught from a Christian philosophy with a Lutheran perspective.
