COMM 301 Interpersonal Communication Studies why communication breaks down in interpersonal relationships, focusing on such topics as perception, self-concept, nonverbals, listening, gender, self-disclosure, power, and conflict. OFF 145 Medical Administrative Office Procedures I Introduces the fundamentals of business office operations and procedures as applied to meet the specific requirements of the medical office. Includes private, group and government insurance forms, typing and machine transcription, and basic fundamentals of bookkeeping. Units on state sales tax, payroll and related taxes, and a medical bookkeeping practice set are utilized to connect the accounting concepts to the medical field. 2 credit hours.
OFF 159 Medical Law and Ethics Presents fundamental knowledge of the legal relationship of the physician and patient with emphasis on the various principles of medical ethics, including current issues, as they relate to the practice of medicine and the practice of medical assisting. 2 credit hours.
REL 100 The Bible as Literature An overview of the Bible intended to acquaint the student with its background, content and messages as superior Christian literature. The student is expected to read specified sections of the Old and New Testaments and become acquainted with their message. 3 credit hours.
SCI 145 Medical Terminology Introduces the foundational development of a medical vocabulary. The student learns to recognize, spell, define and pronounce medical terms. 2 credit hours.
SCI 147 Medical Clinical Procedures I Identifies the roles and functions of personnel within the medical office practice setting. Basic scientific and clinical principles are discussed. Theory is presented in conjunction with planned student activity. Techniques needed to assist both the patient and physician in daily office activities are learned. 2 credit hours.
SCI 148 Medical Laboratory I Designed to instruct in the collection and preparation of laboratory specimens. Students will collect specimens by performing phlebotomy techniques. Routine hematology and chemistry laboratory tests will be performed on collected blood specimens. 2 credit hours.
PE 204 Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Provides instruction in the American Red Cross life-saving skills of rescue breathing, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and how to care for choking victims. Techniques for caring for infants, children and adults are covered. I credit hour.

SCI 146 Anatomy and Physiology Studies basic human anatomical structure and identifies the corresponding activities and responses. Identification of cause and effect of the types of common pathological conditions is made for each body system. 3 credit hours.

IS 250 Medical Assistant Clinicals Provides the student with an opportunity to demonstrate application of learned concepts, principles and procedures required to assist the physician in daily office activities within a supervised clinical setting.
