Dr. Janice Staral began teaching at CUW in July 2007.  She received her undergraduate degree in Social Work (BSW) from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1975 and her Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Michigan in 1979.  Dr. Staral was awarded her Ph.D. in Urban Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1995.  The title of her dissertation was "Signs of Hope and Struggle: Action Research in a Racially-Mixed Central City Church."

 

Dr. Staral's areas of social work practice include health care; work with older adults; and school social work.  She was the Director of the Social Work Program and an Assistant Professor at Marquette University in the Department of Social and Cultural Sciences.  She has published in the area of social work and spirituality, and in faith-based community organizing.  Her research and teaching interests include community organizing, social welfare policy, health care practice, urban change, and poverty and welfare reform.

Wendy Stolt has been teaching at CUW since January 1992. She received her undergraduate degree in education from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and her Master's Degree in social work from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1983.

 

Prof. Stolt's professional social work career ranged from medical social work to the Director of Social Services at a long term care facility for older adults. Currently she is working in a doctoral program in education at Marquette University.  Prof. Stolt teaches Practice and Field Seminar courses.

Jennifer Venn has been teaching at CUW since August 2003. She received her undergraduate degree in social work at Mount Mary College in 1995 and her Master’s degree in Social Work at University Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1997.  Prof. Venn is a certified Advanced Practice Social Worker in the State of Wisconsin.  Prof. Venn is also currently an Adjunct Professor at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in the graduate social work program teaching research and health and mental health policy courses.  Prof. Venn’s current career also includes direct practice at Froedtert Hospital Emergency Department Trauma Center.  Her past professional career includes Prenatal Care Coordination, and Director of Social Services at Northwest General Hospital.  Prof. Venn teaches research, assists in coordinating field placements, is the field liaison, and teaches field seminar.

 

 

 

Quinton D. Cotton, MSSA

Quinton Cotton joined the Social Work Department as an adjunct faculty member in August 2007.  Quinton received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Marquette University and double majored in Sociology and Social Welfare and Justice.  In 2006, he received his Master of Science in Social Administration (MSSA), with a Community Development Concentration, from the Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences (an accredited MSW Program) at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.  Quinton is currently the Associate Planner with the Planning Council for Health and Human Services, Inc., Milwaukee, WI.

Beth joined the Social Work staff in March 2007.  She received her Bachelor degree in management and communication from CUW, and previously worked in the Adult Education Department.  Her career includes administrative and operations management of non-profit social service agencies and small businesses, computer training and consulting, and general bookkeeping.  Beth assists the director, field coordinator, and faculty with the administrative functions of the Social Work Department.
