WHAT TYPES OF DEGREES DO YOU OFFER?

We offer both Associate of Arts and Bachelor of Arts degrees.

WHEN DO CLASSES MEET?

Classes meet one night per week Monday-Thursday from 6PM until 10PM throughout the year.  Each class is between four to six weeks in length.

HOW DOES THE PROGRAM WORK?

Students begin with classes in the major and continue to earn core and elective credits in our accelerated program.

HOW LARGE ARE THE CLASSES?

Classes typically have between 10-15 students.

WHO ARE THE INSTRUCTORS?

Our instructors hold a minimum of a Master’s degree or higher and are currently working in their area of expertise.

WHO IS THE TYPICAL STUDENT?

The average age of our students is between 25-45 years.  Most have about 10 years of work experience.

DO YOU ACCEPT TRANSFER CREDITS?

College credits from regionally accredited schools may be submitted for transfer consideration, provided the student took college level courses, and earned a C- or better for each course submitted.  Students may transfer in a maximum of 80 credits into the program.  An official evaluation of transfer is completed once a student has been formally accepted into the program, and all official transcripts have been received.

MAY I ATTEND THE ACCELERATED PROGRAM AT CUW WITHOUT HAVING PREVIOUS COLLEGE CREDITS TO TRANSFER?

Yes.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE ME TO COMPLETE THE PROGRAM?

The length of time to complete the degree depends on the number of credits transferred into the program as well as whether the student completes elective credits through non-traditional means such as Portfolio and CLEP/DANTES.  In the accelerated course format, students can complete about 30 credits in one calendar year.

CAN I RECEIVE CREDIT FOR TRAINING I HAVE DONE AT WORK?

Students may earn college credit for in-house company training or professional development courses taken through professional associations or commercial training firms.  ACE, PONSI, LOMA, and AIB are organizations that validate for-credit course work completed.  Students must have official copies of the educational transcripts sent to Concordia.

CAN I RECEIVE CREDIT FOR MY WORK AND LIFE EXPERIENCE?

Yes.  Students may do this through portfolios.  You may earn up to 20 elective credits (toward a BA), or 10 credits (toward an AA).  Students must document their experience, demonstrate that they gained college-level knowledge from their experience, and submit a petition for credit.  To find out more about portfolios once you begin the program, please register for a portfolio workshop at your center.

DO YOU ACCEPT MILITARY CREDITS?

Military credits are accepted.  Please contact your military branch to have transcripts mailed to Concordia.  Credit is granted based on the evaluation of an official AARTS Transcript, Community College of the Air Force Transcript, or for military service prior to 1981, (DD 214 documentation needed).

HOW DO I ENROLL IN CLASSES?

1. Make an individual appointment to meet with the Admissions Officer.

2. Schedule a session to complete assessments used for placement and advising purposes.

3. Fill out your financial aid paperwork

4. Submit an application for admission and the $35 application fee.

5. Request that all official transcripts from prior colleges be sent to the university.  For students with a semester or less of college, please have your high school transcript sent to Concordia.  If it applies to you, please have your police or military branch send transcript.

6. Once accepted, submit the $75 tuition deposit required to register for classes.

7. Complete an ADD/DROP form to register for classes.

WHAT IS INVOLVED WITH THE ASSESSMENTS USED FOR PLACEMENT AND ADVISING PURPOSES?

Assessments take approximately an hour.  Students may elect to complete assessment evaluations for English and Math.  If scores meet the minimum requirements, the student can opt out of the required prerequisite English and Math Foundations courses.  Students should schedule an individual appointment with the Admissions Officer to complete the assessment evaluations.
