Concordia University, located on the shore of Lake Michigan, offers students a unique opportunity to study easily accessible wetlands, perched wetlands, prairie, and aquatic ecosystems
Lake Michigan and the associated ecosystems are an outdoor laboratory and classroom for many science courses taught at CUW with hands-on learning and student research.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Will completion of the degree allow me to obtain an initial teaching license or additional licensure if I am already a licensed teacher?
The program leads to Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction License #615 for currently licensed teachers. The program does not lead to initial licensure; however, initial licensure may be obtained by taking additional courses through teacher certification programs at Concordia.
Must I be a licensed teacher to be accepted?
No. Some students just want the master's degree without licensure. Although this degree prepares specialists in environmental education for grades K-12, it also prepares graduates as environmental education specialists in facilities such as profit and non-profit environmental education or nature centers, parks, camps, museums, zoos, and aquariums
Is Concordia's environmental education program unique?
Yes. Concordia University seeks to promote intellectual development and self-knowledge and provide insights for Christian action in the world. This program prepares students to teach future generations to be wise stewards of the Creator's gifts and understand how their actions can reflect godly stewardship of the environment locally and globally. Graduates will be prepared to help students 'open the book of nature' and marvel at God's wonders in the natural world.
