This specialty is designed to prepare master classroom teachers. The program enables the teacher to improve classroom teaching skills and increase understanding of the process of education and the art of teaching. The Master's degree requires thirty-three (33) semester credits. All courses are offered at the off-site locations in Wisconsin.
A master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction provides educators excellent choices of classes for license renewal or to increase expertise in areas of special interest. Portfolio assessment is done throughout the program.

Is the program accredited?
Concordia is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, and is a member of the North Central Association.
Do I need to have a Wisconsin teaching license to pursue this program?
No. It is not a prerequisite for entrance into the program. We have students enrolled in the program who come from a variety of backgrounds with varying future professional goals.
What are entrance requirements?
Students are expected to have an undergraduate GPA of at least 3.00 and a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. GRE's are not required!
What materials are required to apply?
A complete application includes a one-page application, non-refundable $35 application fee, essay, resume, two recommendations and all official transcripts leading to your bachelor's degree.
Will successful completion of the program lead to any additional state licensure by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction?
No. This program is designed to prepare master classroom
teachers. It enables the teacher to improve classroom teaching skills and increase understanding of the process of education and the art of teaching.
Will successful completion of the program allow me to obtain a teaching license?
No. To obtain a teaching license you can enter Concordia's Teacher Certification program.
Are transfer credits accepted?
Yes. During the application process, previous graduate credits will be reviewed for possible transfer to the counseling program. They must be at least 3 credits and have been taken within the past seven years.
Do I need to take a comprehensive exam at the end of my course work?
No. This program utilizes a portfolio-based assessment process. Successful completion of the portfolio process is a requirement of the program.

Please note: Elective courses may be combined with other cohort programs and may be offered on a different night of the week than the core Curriculum and Instruction cohort courses. Additional electives are also available through E-Learning.
How does the cohort program work?
A cohort is a group of students that complete an entire program of study together. Concordia's off campus cohorts are held at various locations around Wisconsin conveniently located to meet the needs of a busy teacher.
The courses within the cohort program are accelerated. Students will complete each course in eight sessions. Each cohort will include a maximum of 22 students. The small class size allows students to receive personal attention.
Classes are offered one evening per week during the school year. Some locations may require two, two-week daytime summer classes. The entire program can be completed at the off campus location.
The program can be completed in 2 years.
