GRADUATE TEACHER CERTIFICATION PROGRAM
Students must meet the following requirements for admission to the program:
- Submission of completed graduate application materials. Graduate entrance requirements include a cumulative GPA of 3.0.
- An official evaluation of transcripts must be completed to determine whether DPI requirements have been met in major and minor certification areas.
- An undergraduate (and graduate if applicable) GPA of at least 2.75 in academic course work for major/minor areas of certification must be verified to meet DPI mandates. Any major/minor content deficiencies must be satisfied before student teaching placement will be made.
- Completion of, and passing scores on all three sections of the Pre-Professional Skills Test (PPST).
The following DPI mandates need to be satisfied prior to student teaching:
- Completion of, and passing scores on the PRAXIS II tests
(competency in major and minor areas of certification)
- Completion of DPI required clinical hours in general education, multicultural education, special education and reading must be satisfied prior to student teaching placements.
Once admitted, a student must maintain a 3.0 (B) average in the graduate courses to remain in the program.
