MBA Prerequisites 

The prerequisite courses are undergraduate courses necessary to adequately prepare a student for the MBA. It is expected that students will have acquired the basic knowledge of these courses prior to beginning the program.  Concordia University provides these courses through our flexible E-Learning option or through an accelerated on-campus format in the School of Adult Education, students who have completed any of these courses more than five years ago may wish to refresh their knowledge by repeating or auditing the class. One or more of these courses may be waived for students with business/professional experiences. Please consult with the MBA Program Director, Dr. David Borst for information about waivers. As a general guideline the prerequisite courses consist of: 

  1. Introduction to Statistics
  2. Principles of Management
  3. Principles of Accounting
  4. Principles of Marketing
  5. Business Finance
  6. Economics (Macro or Micro)

 

MBA Prerequisites at CUW

The Adult Education program offers the undergraduate prerequisite courses necessary to prepare MBA students for their course of study. These prerequisites include:

  1. AL 169 Statistical Methods (6 weeks)
  2. AL 272 Organizational Management Principles
    or 
  3. AL 358 Principles of Management (4 weeks)
  4. AL 365 Accounting (6 weeks)
  5. AL 366 Marketing Management (5 weeks)
  6. AL 346 Business Finance (6 weeks)
  7. AL 347 Macroeconomics (6 weeks) 

If you are interested in taking prerequisite courses at CUW in an accelerated format through the School of Adult Education please contact the admission officer at the center location you wish to take classes. MBA CORE

In keeping with the purpose of a MBA, our curriculum is designed to provide the student with the broad spectrum of the business scene. To this end, the courses provide advanced instruction in many areas of business. The utilization of a concentration allows the student, at the same time, to develop an area of expertise.

 

The MBA core courses consist of the following 24 credits:

MBA 500/800 Managerial Economics*
MBA 510/815 Applied Statistical Methods* OR
MBA 815 Statistical Research for Decision Making
(MBA 815 E-Learning Residency Course only available on campus.)
MBA 520/820 Management Information Systems*
MBA 530/830 Corporate Finance*
MBA 540/840 Accounting: Financial Analysis for Decision Making*
MBA 575/875 Business Ethics*
MBA 580/880 Leadership and Organizational Behavior*
MBA 590/890 Strategic Management (Capstone ? taken last)*

 

The student will select a concentration and take 15 credit hours of courses prescribed within the concentration.
