HISTORY OF FRIENDS OF CONCORDIA

In 1971, the late Elmer A. Seefeld sought to form an organization of men and women who "would

support Concordia's goal to broaden its outreach and service by expanding the curriculum and assist in the public relations build-up of the college." The Century Club was established as a service organization for Concordia providing "people power" and monies for some of the needs of the school which would benefit every aspect of the campus.

The Century Club membership approved to change the organization's name to Friends of Concordia and looks to the future and how it can improve its mission of service.

Motivated by the importance of Christian education and the organizations’ worthwhile projects, our Friends throughout the United States - numbering over 3,000 -have donated over $1,600,000 to Concordia University Wisconsin since 1971.

Numerous projects have been funded including library books, choir gowns, scholarships, drama support, organs, health campaigns, a diorama, a gazebo, engineering lab equipment, trophy cases, art sculpture, computers and software, softball field, gymnasium hardwood floor, athletic equipment, library books and much, much more.

Today, Concordia University Wisconsin is the only institution of Higher Education in Synod to have the support of a volunteer group, such as the Friends of Concordia.
