New University Center

Option A - Albrecht Hall (Remodeling Only)

Projected Project Cost: $2,500,000 to $3,500,000 (in 2003 dollars).

The University Center renovation will include: various lounge spaces (study, TV, conversation, international student), a renovation of the “Falcons’ Nest” with larger coffee shop and convenience store, campus bookstore, campus mail center, game room, student organization offices, 24-hour computer lab, Student Life and student services offices as appropriate to complement business offices in Luther Hall, The project includes 32,000 sq. ft. of remodeling.

Option B – Presidents Courtyard

Projected Project Cost: $7,000,000 to $9,000,000 (in 2003 dollars).

The University Center will be a focal point for gathering on campus. The University Center will be located to the east and northeast of the existing main entrance at Luther Hall. In conjunction with the Music building, the University Center will create a new “front door” to campus. The University Center will be a two-story building and will include: various lounge spaces (study, TV, conversation, international student), a café similar to the “Falcons’ Nest” but larger, coffee shop and convenience store, campus bookstore, campus mail center, game room, student organization offices, 24-hour computer lab, Student Life and student services offices as appropriate to complement business offices in Luther Hall. The project includes 60,000 gross sq. ft. of new construction.

Option C – Addition to Albrecht Hall and Dining Hall

Projected Project Cost: $3,000,000 to $4,000,000 (in 2003 dollars).

The University Center addition will add features and space to the remodeling of Albrecht Hall. The University Center Addition will be located between Stuenkel Hall and Albrecht Hall West of the Dining Hall. The University Center will be a two-story building and will augment various lounge spaces (study, TV, conversation, international student), student organization offices, 24-hour computer lab, Student Life and student services offices. The project includes approx. 24,000 sq. ft. of new construction.
