"Concordia Green" is the name of the university initiative to become a responsible steward of the resources with which God has blessed us. Begun in part as a result of the bluff restoration project (2004-2006), President Patrick Ferry has asked the members of the Concordia community to raise their awareness of environmental and resource issues facing the university and its community. The first result of "Concordia Green" has been to update and publicize its current recycling policy, so that a greater number of community members participate in that program.
UPDATED RECYCLING GUIDELINES
Goal
The goal of Concordia's recycling program is to provide its community members access to recycling opportunities, so that students, staff, faculty and other members of our community participate in the effort to recycle aluminum cans, plastic bottles, and a wide variety of paper products.
Recycling Centers
The Concordia Green recycling centers will be collection points for recyclable materials. Maintenance will pick up recyclables three times a week. The recycling centers will be located in these areas on the Mequon campus:
- Katharine lobby
- Wittenberg lobby
- Phoenix lounge
- Field House lobby

- Rincker stairwell
- Falcon Nest
- Heidelberg lounge

What can be recycled?
PAPER
- office/computer paper - usually from printers or copies
- newsprint paper
- mixed-color paper - includes magazines, junk mail, advertisements
NOT
sandwich paper, paper towels, wax-coated paper, carbon paper, or any paper with food particles
Maintenance Department can recycle cardboard, but it must be taken to the loading dock, not put in the recycling bins
CANS
- aluminum cans
NOT
aluminum foil or other metal objects
PLASTIC
- plastic liquid bottles
Take caps and pump spray tops off of plastic containers unless they are marked with a number. They are often made of a type of plastic that is different from the main part of the container and generally are not recyclable.
