CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY WISCONSIN ANNOUNCES NEW ACCELERATED ELEMENTARY TEACHER CERTIFICATION PROGRAM MEQUON, Wis. - Concordia University Wisconsin officials announced today that the school will begin offering an accelerated Elementary Teacher Certification Pilot Program in early April 2006.
According to Professor Michael Uden, chairperson of Concordia?s Department of Elementary/Middle School Education, ?This is a very exciting development for the university. The program is based upon Concordia's respected undergraduate teacher education program and complements the secondary teacher certification model already in existence.?
The program enables professionals who already hold a bachelors degree to receive a Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction license after 22 months of coursework, including a full semester of student teaching required by Wisconsin DPI.
Except for the daytime student teaching semester, most courses are offered one night a week, using Concordia?s successful accelerated format. Tuition is also charged at the favorable accelerated undergraduate rate, but with students responsible for purchase of their own books.
For more information on this new program, contact the Admissions Coordinator at 262-243-4560. Founded in 1881, Concordia University Wisconsin's main campus is located on approximately 200 acres on Lake Michigan at 12800 N. Lake Shore in Mequon.
