CONCORDIA TO BEGIN OFFERING CLASSES IN CUDAHY
MEQUON, Wis. - Concordia University Wisconsin officials and members of the Cudahy Chamber of Commerce today announced that they have reached an agreement for the University to begin offering its accelerated Adult Education Business Management degree program at the Cudahy library on Monday evenings starting September 8, 2008.
"This is a great day for the residents of City of Cudahy as well as St. Francis and South Milwaukee because they will now have a quality higher education opportunity in a location that is so convenient it will make their lifelong dream of earning a bachelor's degree obtainable," said Dr. Michael Besch, vice president of Adult Education at Concordia.
"We would like to thank the members of the Cudahy Chamber of Commerce for pursuing this idea for its residents, and for working so closely with our University to make it a reality," added Besch.
Chamber President Ray Glowacki said, "The Chamber of Commerce is very excited that Concordia University has decided to come to Cudahy. We believe this will further our efforts to become a destination city and we would like to thank Dr. Besch for all his diligent efforts."
"I hope that our Chamber members and the citizens of Cudahy will take advantage of the programs being offered here," added Glowacki.
Concordia's accelerated programs are very popular with adults whose personal and work schedules make full-time, traditional study impossible. The programs meet one evening per week for a four-hour session, and students earn three credits in as little as four to six weeks. Transfer credits, as well as credits for experiential learning, are also accepted.
The Business Management major which will be offered in Cudahy includes study from a variety of disciplines which offers students the opportunity to develop knowledge, skills, and attitudes to more effectively deal with managerial, human, and financial dynamics within an organization.
Specific learning goals for the Business Management major include: the ability to use critical and creative thinking skills in the business context; knowledge of strategic decision-making to evaluate and manage business initiatives; knowledge of planning, organizing, leading and controlling the resources of an organization; knowledge of human resource issues within the business organization; dynamics of the marketing function, including product planning, pricing, promotion, channel management, and competition analysis; ability to apply basic accounting principles and construct and interpret financial statements; knowledge of business financing strategies and processes; and entrepreneurial skills in the development of a business plan.
Financial Aid will be available for qualified students. For additional information on the new Cudahy Adult Education Program or to receive an application for admission, please call Robert Nowak at 262.243.4500. Enrollment procedures are simple and straightforward, and students can be admitted after only one meeting with an admissions counselor.
