Student Housing

New High-Density Housing: 3-story building with 250 beds.

Projected Project Cost: $9,000,000 to $10,500,000 (in 2003 dollars).

New Residence Hall

A new Residence Hall will be constructed to span between the east ends of Coburg Hall and Augsburg Hall, taking advantage of the view east to Lake Michigan. The Hall will contain 250 beds in a 3-story building designed in the style of Regents Hall. The structure will be connected to the campus corridor system. The project includes the site work surrounding the building, as well as demolition of the Eastern wing of Coburg Hall.

The project includes approx. 100,000 sq. ft. of new construction.

New Parking North of Augsburg Hall

Additional parking is needed on the north side of campus to logically accommodate the concentration of planned residence hall projects. In addition, it is a goal of the master plan to physically separate the campus loop road from parking areas for safety and traffic circulation reasons. This parking area covers the current Baseball Diamond (which will be relocated to the new athletic fields). Additional parking will be provided east of the new housing. A total of approximately 300 additional parking stalls are provided.

New Low-Density Housing: (8) 2-story buildings with a total of 288 beds.

Projected Project Cost: $8,000,000 to $9,500,000 (in 2003 dollars)

New Residence Halls will be located along the bluff – north of the Peace Center. The project will contain 288 beds in 2-story, apartment-type flats. The units will target upper-classmen, graduate, and married Students. The project includes site work surrounding the buildings as well as surface parking for 150 cars, a loop road and utility extensions. The project cost does not include the expense of relocating the 85,000 gallon sewage storage facility, if that is required. The Project includes 112,000 sq.ft. of new construction.

Upgrades to Existing Housing: Heidelberg, Wartburg, Augsburg, Coburg, Katharine, and the Peace Center

Projected Project Cost: To be determined specific to each planned improvement project.

The Residences Halls will receive corrective maintenance with upgrades to finishes and furnishings. Electrical capacity and data access will be upgraded to University Standards. The scope of work for the several projects will be determined following specific improvements studies.
