This specialty is designed to prepare you to be a master classroom teacher through improved teaching skills and an increased understanding of the process of education. It provides student-educators with a range of choices of classes for license renewal or to increase expertise in your area of special interest. Portfolio assessment is done throughout the program. It is not required that a student hold a teaching license for acceptance into the program.

- Classes may be taken during the evenings during the fall and spring semesters or in accelerated summer sessions.
- Most faculty are doctoral prepared in the field of education.
- Classes are small and students receive personal attention from faculty.
- The program utilizes a portfolio-based assessment process.
- Courses in the program are supported by excellent resources, including Rincker Library.
- In addition to teachers, students in the program come from a variety of backgrounds with varying professional goals.
- Students have the option of completing a thesis or graduate seminar.
- Courses are offered on the main Mequon campus, at several off-site locations and by E-Learning.
- The program offers three flexible ways for students to complete a Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction degree:
- On-Campus: Our Mequon campus offers evening courses during the school year and a variety of summer schedules primarily during the day in June and July.
- Off-Campus: CUW’s off-campus sites around the state offer an accelerated cohort model. Each course meets one night a week for eight weeks.
- Online One-on-One: One-on-one E-Learning is designed for students whose schedules require flexibility. E-Learning students will complete the residency requirements by taking Educational Research Methods, a one-week course offered in June.
