WELCOME
Welcome to the Health and Human Performance Department at Concordia University Wisconsin. Housed with the Concordia Christian experience, the Department has a rich tradition of "Service" through producing teachers, coaches, athletic trainers, and other specialist's of fitness and wellness. Our faculty members strive to offer students a cutting edge curriculum based upon quality, content, innovative technology and relevant educational experience. Out small student to teacher ratio allows us to nurture students through our programs with individual attention and small class sizes. The faculty incorporate the skill of problem solving, decision making and communication in their classes in conjunction with Christian values.
INTRODUCTION
The Concordia University Wisconsin Department of Health and Human Performance prepares students to become teachers in physical education, athletic trainers, exercise science professionals and exercise fitness and wellness specialists. These four (4) areas are complimented with optional minors in health and coaching. These options allow students to enter the workforce with a variety of skills, talents and content knowledge to address the current and ever changing needs of society. Supported by our liberal arts core requirements, your experience will allow you to address a plethora of audiences, publics and communities.
PURPOSE STATEMENT
The first goal of the Health and Human Performance Department is to foster the student's growth in mind, body and spirit for the service of Christ in the Church and in the world. In addition, the Department strives to help all Concordia students obtain the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for them to lead healthy, active and productive lives. Health and Human Performance graduates will possess the specialized knowledge in their chosen profession to be highly competent and contributing members of the working world. They will be well prepared to serve the health and human performance needs of a myriad of populations.
The second goal of the Health and Human Performance Department is to provide courses through the Department that support the core requirements of Concordia. Through Introduction to Lifetime Fitness and activity courses the Department stresses the University's mission of mind, body and spirit.
