TOTA
Transitional Program for Occupational Therapy Assistants (TOTA)
Program Highlights
As an occupational therapy assistant, you know first hand that you can make a difference in people’s lives. If you are highly motivated and able to work both independently and collaboratively, then Concordia’s Transitional Occupational Therapy Assistant (TOTA) program can help you enhance your professional skills and opportunities.
Each fall, a group of 20 OTA’s begin a 3 ½ year program to earn their Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation Science and Master of Occupational Therapy degrees. Classes include a combination online/weekend format which allow the student to continue full-time work while completing classes. Weekend classes will meet a total of 26 times on the second weekend of the month on Friday evening, all day Saturday and Sunday morning. Students are expected to participate in online coursework at times of their choice at least three times per week and attend all weekend sessions. While the course structure is rigorous, your learning will involve new treatment methods that will have immediate and direct application to your current clinical work environment.
Concordia recognizes that occupational therapy assistants are professionals with a solid knowledge base and varied clinical experiences. Your transcript will be reviewed to determine if any prerequisite courses are needed. If you already have a bachelor’s degree, you may join the program near the end of the first year and complete only the Master of Occupational Therapy program.
