NAEA National Website
Summary of the N.A.E.A.:
The National Art Education Association (N.A.E.A.) is a program that involves itself in many lengths of education not just in art. The N.A.E.A. is a program that shows the importance of learning through visual means and the importance art has in the school systems. We are not part of the N.A.E.A., but are a self-initiated chapter with the basic principles of the N.A.E.A. At this time, the N.A.E.A. does not offer certified student chapters but we would like to work on changing this fact.
Statement of purpose:
Our goal is to make the students of Concordia more aware of the arts. Because of this, we do not limit our group to just Art and Art Education majors, but to anyone who is interested in looking at, creating, and/or learning about art. Showing and educating others in the arts and about art, we increase their interest for art. By encouraging an aesthetic value in students and those affiliated with this school, we increase the appreciation for art in general, the art we have, and a greater acceptance for the bringing in of more art on our campus. Ultimately, this will increase the overall worth, beauty, and appreciation for and of our campus and those affiliated will have a greater appreciation for the art they see other than that on this campus.
On an Art and Art Education level, we provide information for Artist and Art Educators on what is going on in the arts across the nation. Through the N.A.E.A., the opportunity to go to special conferences, namely the national conference, and information through their newsletters and magazine gives the tools to affective teaching and understanding of what accomplishments are presently on the grow. This gives a unique edge to anyone in the art fields.
Quotes
''somehow in most of us the conviction persists that the experience of art matters uniquely or has particular value that the experience of, say, acquiring knowledge or having one's class solidarity reinforced do not have. -Richard Eldridge-
The greater the variety of artistically relevant predicates, the more complex the individual members of the artworld become; and the more one knows of the entire population of the artworld, the richer one's experience with any of its members. -Arthur C. Danto-
