Policy regarding Cooperative Programs with
other Higher Education Institutions

 

 

Purpose of the Program:

To enable the student to enrich her/his academic preparation by taking courses at another higher education institution with which Concordia University Wisconsin has a written agreement.

 

Eligibility and Guidelines:

  1. The student must be a full time undergraduate student at Concordia University Wisconsin.
  2. Concordia will not pay for a cooperative major or minor for a student whose Concordia gift aid is equal to or greater than full time tuition.
  3. Payment for cooperative programs will be made only to institutions with which Concordia has a written agreement and only for courses required in that program. 
  4. Concordia does not pay another institution for courses listed in the CUW catalog.
  5. CUW will pay another institution for a particular course only once.  (Retaking a course after a drop or a failure will be the responsibility of the student.)
  6. Concordia will pay the per-credit tuition at the cooperating institution up to an amount equal to Concordia's per credit tuition fee; the student will be responsible for the difference.
  7. Concordia will pay only for courses taken in the fall and spring semesters (not summer).
  8. Concordia will pay for courses for which approval has been completed (see Procedure, Step 8) before the course begins.

 

Procedure:

  1. Student receives form from Registrar's Office (available on the Web).
  2. Student immediately reviews the Limitations (above).
  3. Student attaches a copy of the current Financial Aid Award Letter.
  4. Student completes the "Concordia University Cooperative Program Course Request Form".  Choose from either MS Word MS Word or PDF Adobe PDF format.
  5. Student takes form to Cashier's Office for verification that all accounts are current.
  6. Student obtains signature of her/his academic advisor.
  7. Student will demonstrate to the appropriate Dean of the School that the course(s) requested are required in the program.  If approved, the Dean of the School signs the form.
  8. Student returns completed form to Registrar's Office.

 

Other Guidelines:

  1. Before following the "Procedure", meet with your advisor.
  2. Application for acceptance and registration for classes at the cooperating colleges vary.  Most colleges require prior acceptance as a special student.
  3. Arrangement for payments of fees to the cooperating college should be made at the time of registration at that college.
    1. Student may request a letter from Concordia's Registrar indicating that the University will be paying the bill.  It is the student's responsibility to bring the bill to the Registrar's Office in a timely fashion.  Concordia will not pay a late registration fee to another college.

      OR

    2. Student may request from the Concordia Registrar, prior to the time of registration at the cooperating college, a check to be issued to cover the fees involved.  The student?s Concordia account will be charged and subsequently cleared when the student presents evidence of successful completion of the course, along with the actual bill for the tuition.
  4. As soon as the course has been completed, have an official transcript sent to Concordia's Registrar who will enter the grade on the student's transcript (including GPA).  Registrar will notify CUW's Business office that the account may be closed.  This transcript must be submitted within six weeks after the term ends; tuition reimbursement is not guaranteed after six weeks..
  5. Students are responsible for their own transportation and registration details with the cooperating college or university.
