Procedures
Every document submitted to the Committee for review should first have been examined and approved by the appropriate department, division, etc. The greater the scrutiny the document receives at these levels, the faster the document will find its way through the Curriculum Committee.
Once a document has been submitted to the Curriculum Committee, the Chair distributes the syllabus to at least TWO reviewers (primary & secondary) who will present syllabus to the Committee for discussion.
The Curriculum Committee as a whole reviews every document submitted to it. The primary and secondary reviewers of each document present their findings to the Committee, which collectively examines each document in terms of its internal and external coherence, and particularly its relation to CUW’s mission statement.
If the Committee approves a syllabus, it will be transmitted to Academic Council for further review. Only documents relating to new programs or courses will be brought to the plenary faculty. If the Committee deems that a document requires revisions, that document will be returned to the initiator.
