This is our new Meridian 1 telephone "switch" from Northern Telecom. Nortel, as they are called, is one of the top manufacturers of telephone equipment.
In this picture you are looking at some of the computer hardware to which the Universities' phone lines pass through. Each vertical card is home for 16 telephone lines
Here you see a glimpse of the amount of wiring it takes to link approximately 1400 people to our new phone system. Every phone on campus has two wires connected directly to one of the systems' many vertical circuit boards, as shown previously.
This is MAT, (Merdian Admistration Tools), our Windows based computer, which allows us to make adds, moves, and changes easily on our telephone system. MAT also helps to us to catch prank callers or people using PIN numbers illegally.
