Mission Statement

The Library Instruction Program offered by the Rincker Memorial Library is an attempt at increasing information literacy within the CUW community.  Information literacy incorporates the ability to effectively identify information needs, as well as the gathering, evaluation and use of information.  By aiding in the development of these abilities, the Instruction Program hopes to further academic success, prepare graduates for professional careers, and help provide a foundation for lifelong learning.

  • The goals of the Instruction Program include:

  • Offering point-of-use, individual, and, group/classroom instruction (enhanced by electronic and/or print instructional aids), that accommodate a variety of learners and learning styles.
  •
  • Introducing library users to and familiarizing them with a variety of information tools & resources available to them, and, teaching research skills necessary to effectively apply them.
  •
  • Collaborating with CUW faculty & staff in order to assist in addressing students’ information needs within the context of the academic programs & curriculum.
  •
  • Increasing the recognition & usage of all library programs & services.
  •
  • Ongoing evaluation & adjustment of methods/content so as to meet the changing needs of library users.

The Instruction Program supports the missions of both the Rincker Memorial Library and Concordia University Wisconsin.
