Here is a list of reference services offered to faculty through the reference librarians. This list is not exhaustive and the services are subject to the time the librarians have available. Please contact one of the librarians (please see below) if we can be of service to you in one or more of these ways:
Reference staff serve the faculty by:
Assisting faculty in locating library materials to answer a ready reference, general reference, or research question.
Assisting faculty in using library equipment.
Issuing an InfoPass for library materials not found within the SWITCH consortium as requested.
Locating books or articles not held by SWITCH through Interlibrary Loan as requested.
Assisting faculty in identifying plagiarized materials. Please contact the Library Office ext4330 with requests for assistance.
Creating subject bibliographies as requested.
Checking reading lists against the SWITCH collection.
Creating subject-related guides to using the library.
Identifying organizations or sources outside the library that can supply needed information.
Communicating and interpreting new library resources or services.
Communicating with faculty regarding assignments and library resources or services.
Communicating with faculty in order to develop the collection.
Assisting faculty in borrowing reference books for use in classroom demonstrations.
Collaborating with faculty in providing assignment-, course-, or syllabus-based information literacy instruction.
Providing information literacy instruction on using the library's resources (electronic catalog, online databases, CD-ROM databases, Internet, subject resources, other) through:
Personalized, one-on-one introduction to electronic resources in faculty offices
Drop-in workshops for faculty
Class instruction in computer classroom or library
Inviting faculty input on library services or policies or library-related concerns.
