AWARD PROGRAMS and ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA for 2008-2009 NEW STUDENTS
Church Work Scholarship
1. Eligibility is reviewed
- Student is accepted at CUW as a full time, first-time freshman student or a transfer student from another university not in the CUS system declaring a church work major (Pre Sem, Lutheran Education or Lay Ministry).
- Student is a member of a LCMS congregation
- Student with an entry level GPA of at least 3.00 or greater and living on campus receives $10,000 guarantee, if off campus receives $5800
- Student with an entry level GPA of 2.99 to 2.75 and living on campus to receive $5500, if off campus will receive $4000.
- Students with an entry level GPA is less than 2.75 but greater than 2.49 are awarded a Church Work Scholarship of $1200.
- The guarantee of funds is from all sources such as Federal and State Grants and CUW grants and scholarships. However, District and Congregation aid awarded to the student and other outside scholarships not determined by CUW are in addition to the guarantee.
- The Church Work guarantee is renewable each year assuming the student continues to meet the eligibility requirements. If a student earns a CGPA after their first year at CUW that is greater their entry level GPA, their Church Work guarantee will be re-evaluated and renewed based on their earned CUW CGPA.
- Student must have a completed financial aid application in the Financial Aid Office by April 1.
Concordia Grant - Institutional Aid
First-time freshmen
- product is determined using entry level CGPA times the ACT score
- matrix is used to determine grant based on the product score and the Expected Family Contribution (EFC)
- Grant amount ranges from $3,000 - $11,000 for students living on campus, and $2,200 - $8,000 living off campus or with a parent.
- If a student earns a CGPA after their first full year at CUW that is significantly greater than their entry level GPA, their product will be recalculated using the earned CUW CGPA and the ACT score on file. The CUW Grant will be renewed based on the new product score for the next year. This is a one time only recalculation of the CUW Grant, and is only recalucated by the request of the student.
Transfer Students
- Students with a CGPA greater than 3.29 living on campus are awarded on average $4,281 depending on need, living off campus or with a parent on average $3,125.
- Students with a CGPA less than 3.29 but greater than 2.5 living on campus are awarded on average $3,750, living off campus or with a parent on average $2,700.
- Students with CGPA less than 2.5 living on campus are awarded on average $2800, living off campus or with a parent on average $2,000.

Presidential and Regent Scholarships
- awarded based on high school GPA and SAT/ACT matrix
- included in meeting Church Work Scholarship or LCMS Member Scholarship guarantees
- renewable if student maintains cumulative GPA of 2.5.
Music, Nursing, and Education Scholarships
- determined by the respective faculty each year
- Music auditions are held during Concordia University Wisconsin's Music Audition Weekend held in the spring for high school applicants
Concordia Grants
- need based award
- subject to change each year if the family need changes
- must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.00 to be awarded 100% of your eligibility
