SI is an internationally renowned (http://www.umkc.edu/cad/SI/Index.htm) academic assistance program that utilizes peer-assisted study sessions. SI sessions are regularly-scheduled, informal review sessions in which students compare notes, discuss readings, develop organizational tools, and predict test items. Students learn how to integrate course content and study skills while working together.

What is SI?
- A program that targets traditionally difficult academic courses - those with a high level of Ds or Fs and withdrawals - and provides regularly scheduled, out-of-class, peer facilitated study sessions.
- SI helps students improve understanding of course material, guarantees structured study times, and teaches study strategies that can be used in any course.
Who should attend?
- Everyone who wants to do better in this course.
- SI welcomes students of varying ability levels. SI targets difficult courses, not struggling students.
What is the commitment?
- There is no commitment. SI is attended on a voluntary basis.
- Two-three (2-3) hour long sessions per week. You can come to as many or as few sessions as you deem necessary.
- Students from previous semesters recommend making it a habit to attend - like it is a requirement of the course.
What are the benefits of attending?
- Students who attend SI sessions earn higher course grades and withdraw less often than non-SI participants.
- SI makes efficient use of your study time
- SI sessions include information on note-taking, anticipating test questions, vocabulary development, and memory aids not normally found in other study/review sessions.
- Insider information! SI sessions are led by upper-class students who have successfully completed this course with this professor. You can’t get more accurate and useful help!
