The social work program at Concordia University Wisconsin is designed to meet the needs of our society through preparation of professionally educated social work practitioners. The social worker with baccalaureate level training is expected to be a generalist practitioner in the field who possesses a wide range of knowledge and competencies in order to respond to a similarly wide range of social problems.
A quality field placement experience is an essential component of baccalaureate social work preparation. The faculty of the Concordia Social Work Department recognizes the important role field education plays in our social work curriculum.
Students in their senior year complete 432 hours of field work in an agency under the supervision of a social worker. Field experience offers students the opportunity to test and demonstrate their abilities and knowledge in a supervised educational setting.
Students are placed in a variety of agencies, commensurate with their expressed desires and educational needs.
Our relationships with agencies in the community assists in the integration of classroom learning with real life situations.
This component of the student’s social work education is most valuable.
