Dr. Albert L. Garcia is a native of La Habana, Cuba. He earned his A.A. degree in the Pre-Ministerial Program of Concordia College, Austin, TX. He graduated with a B.A. degree with honors in philosophy from Florida Atlantic University. He received his Master of Divinity degree from Concordia Theological Seminary, Springfield, IL and was ordained a Lutheran pastor in 1974. He has served pastorates in Chicago, IL and Hollywood, FL. He continued his graduate studies at the Lutheran School of Theology and Chicago, obtaining a Th.M. and Ph.D. degrees in Systematic/Mission Theology.
Dr. Garcia has taught as an Assistant Professor of Systematic Theology and Director of Hispanic Studies at Concordia Theological Seminary, Ft. Wayne, IN. He came to Concordia University Wisconsin in 1991, and has served as an Associate and Professor of Theology, and Director of the Lay Ministry and Teacher Colloquy Programs. He has also served as an adjunct professor at Florida International University, and Concordia Seminary Summer Program and their Hispanic Institute of Theology. Dr. Garcia has served in several boards in the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod and communities in FL and IL. He is currently the Chair of BOD of the National Lutheran Society for Hispanic Missions. He is listed in Who's Who in Religion, and has published a number of articles and three books in English and Spanish. He is the Co-editor of the recently published book Christ and Culture in Dialogue: Contemporary Issues and Themes (CPH, 1999). He is married to Moraima ("Mori") Garcia and they have been blessed with two children Yvette and Phillip.
