Dr. William R. Cario earned his B.A. in history and secondary education at Concordia College, River Forest, Illinois, and his M.A. and Ph.D. in American history at New York University, New York, New York. Before coming to CUW, he taught social studies at elementary and secondary schools in New York City; he also taught at the University of Maryland - Baltimore County and Wesley College, Dover, Delaware. At Concordia he has taught courses in United States and Latin American history while serving as the History Department chair. In May 1998 he was appointed Assistant Vice President of Academics; in January 2006 he was appointed Vice President of Academics. He has published several articles and has co-edited, with Dr. Angus Menuge and Dr. Alberto Garcia, and contributed an article to, a book, Christ and Culture in Dialog (St. Louis: Concordia Academic Press, 1999). Bill lives in Mequon with his wife Cheryl and two sons David and Stephen.
