Kenneth T. Kosche, Professor of Music, has served on the faculty of Concordia since 1978.  He conducts the university?s two choirs, Kammerchor (the touring choir) and Concordia Chorale (the chapel choir).  In addition, he teaches composition, conducting, and choral literature classes at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.  With Kammerchor he has toured all over the continental US, several times to Canada, to Great Britain (1988), to Taiwan (1998), to Brazil (2001) and to the People's Republic of China and Hong Kong (2004).  Kammerchor continues to be frequent contributor of music to the Lutheran Hour, radio ministry of the International Lutheran Laymens League.

Kosche?s BS in Music Education with Highest Honors (1969) and MS (1971) degrees were awarded by the University of Illinois?Urbana, Champaign (UI-UC), and his doctorate, a DMA in Choral Conducting, by the University of Washington (1977).

Prior to coming to Concordia University Wisconsin, Dr. Kosche has taught in public high schools in Illinois, at the University of Wisconsin?LaCrosse, and at Winona State University, where he directed the community orchestra during a one-year interim.  From 1979-1988 he served as music director of the Lutheran A Cappella Choir of Milwaukee. He has served as a parish musician for most of the past thirty plus years, most recently at St. John?s Lutheran Church, Glendale, Wisconsin.   Kosche is a 1990 Fellow of the Melodious Accord Program, having studied on several subsequent occasions in New York and Massachusetts with Alice Parker.  He is a frequent clinician and workshop leader, having done choral workshops and clinics in several states, Brazil, and Taiwan, recently as guest choral clinician for the 16th world Chinese Church Music Camp, Taipei, May, 2002.

Over 150 of his compositions for voices, keyboard, organ, instruments, and handbells are in the catalogues of some fifteen US publishers and in Taiwan. His choral and organ compositions have received favorable reviews in the Choral Journal, The American Organist, and the Diapason.  Two compositions have won awards.  Several hymn settings of his and a new tune, ?In Paradisum,? appear in the LC-MS Hymnal Supplement 98.  In 1999, his colleagues at Concordia University Wisconsin named him Faculty Laureate. His book, "A Novice's Guide to Directing the Church Choir," (Concordia Publishing House, No. 99-1710) was published in Fall, 2003.

Above all these professional duties and accomplishments, he values his God-given roles as husband to Rosemary and as father of two Concordia University Wisconsin alums, Thomas (CUW 2002) and Anne (CUW 2004).
