Dr. Jastram is the chair of the Department of Theology and Philosophy. The son of missionaries, he was born and raised in Japan before returning to the U.S. for his post-secondary education. He earned a B.A. in Classics from the University of South Dakota in 1980, an M.Div. in Exegesis from Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, IN in 1984, and a Ph.D. in Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations from Harvard University in 1990. He has served as chair of the CUW faculty (2006-2010).
Dr. Jastram’s research interests include studying the Word of God in the original languages and the exploration of other ancient documents that are related to the Bible, including the Dead Sea Scrolls.
