ASPS 2011 Survey Results

The adult student priorities survey is for students of 25 years of age and older, who are attending a four-year institution. The ASPS is a satisfaction assessment for adult students completing an academic program at CUW (evening programs, weekend programs, continuing education, graduate programs and undergraduate program).  It is a web-based survey that shows how satisfied the students are and what is most important to them.  The survey is nationally validated and was completed by 750 adult students at Concordia University Wisconsin in the spring of 2011.

5. ASPS 8 Point-Scale

The ASPS provides comparative data on the degree to which CUW adult learner are satisfied compared to the satisfaction levels of adults’ students at other institutions. There are 50 items rated for importance and satisfaction on the survey. In all 50 items measured by the survey, CUW students had higher satisfaction ratings than the national averages. Three summary items are included in the survey as well as 13 demographic questions.  All items were analyzed to form 8 comprehensive scales.

As illustrated in the table and the chart below, in all 8 scales measured by the Adult Student Priorities Survey, CUW students reported higher rates of satisfaction than the national averages. The scale on which the greatest difference exists between CUW students and the national adult students is Safety and Security, followed closely by Registration Effectiveness.

6. Demographics of CUW Respondents

The majority of the respondents were female (71.4%) and full-time students (57.0%). The age distribution is similar in all 3 categories with 39.8% in the 25 to 34 age group, 27.6% in the 35 to 44 group and 27.0% in the 45 and over age group. Most adults’ students (53.5%) were seeking a master’s degree or a bachelor’s degree (33.1%). A vast majority of the students were in-state resident (88.2%) but 5.4% were out of state and 6.4% were international student (non US citizens). Below is a distribution of the ethnicity repartition among the adult students at CUW.
