Empower students as learners

All the best teachers were inspired by other great teachers before them. Who were the great teachers in your life? How will they inspire you now, as you study to become a teacher yourself? This program will build a foundation in general teaching practices, helping you gain in-depth knowledge in your subject areas, while giving you invaluable experience that you can apply to your career in the classroom.

Program Overview

Learn how to use teaching methods in your specialty area that have a positive effect on student learning. Gain valuable insights that will help you excel in the classroom and become an educator dedicated to service in school, church, and community. Develop an understanding of the developmental stages of youth and adolescence – including how ethnic background, religious training, and socio-economic affiliation impacts development. Learn how to apply theories of human development, learning, and motivation. You’ll also gain a grasp on how to measure learning and manage a classroom, all while learning about technology and best practices to support teaching and learning alike.

What to Expect

Work with experienced professors, and benefit from the individual attention of a low student-to-faculty ratio. Gain real-world experience in local classrooms from day one. An individual coordinator will be assigned to you personally to help ensure your success in the program, which offers a broad range of content specialties you can choose from. Receive a strong liberal arts education, innovative instruction based on current research, and the opportunity to earn your Lutheran Teaching Diploma so you can teach in Lutheran schools upon graduation.
