Our Learning Approach
Concordia University Wisconsin was awarded AACP’s 2015 Award for Excellence in Assessment for our Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) program.
At the CUW School of Pharmacy, you’ll be making a difference within your first semester. You’ll have the chance to be a part of the pharmacy profession through patient care, leadership, and exciting innovations that can change the field tomorrow.
In experiential education, Pharm.D. students work with physicians, nurses, and other members of the health care team in critical care, cardiology, oncology, emergency medicine, and many more rotations. Our experiential education courses are all integrated into the curriculum during the academic year.
In both the Pharm.D. and MPD programs, the result is a holistic education, where you’ll develop and strengthen these key skills:
- Exceptional patient and health care team communication
- Patient advocacy
- Leadership in health care change
Learn from pharmacists and pharmaceutical scientists who are advancing patient care every day. Unparalleled support from CUW instructors—active in both research and pharmacy practice—offers you hands-on interprofessional exposure and the opportunity to explore how pharmacy aligns with your areas of interest.
Through your experiential courses and extracurricular activities at Concordia University Wisconsin, you’ll work with pharmacists and industry experts who are active in the profession, building your network of connections that’ll help you find exciting career opportunities upon graduation and beyond.
And in our MPD program, pharmaceutical and chemical product development companies may also provide apprenticeships that offer you valuable hands-on experience in the field before you graduate.
Concordia University Wisconsin Pharmacy graduates experience 99 percent employment placement after graduation. As more and more medications and treatments are developed, the demand for pharmacists will only increase.
And within the Class of 2016 graduates, 29 percent were matched to a residency program—nearly double the national average of all pharmacy programs, according to the most recently available data.
