Join us August 24-27 th for a fantastic kick-start to your CUW Adventure! During this 4-day experience, you will:

  • Meet new friends
  • Get comfortable on campus before classes start
  • Learn about all the great activities you can take part in
  • Enjoy beautiful Lake Michigan
  • Learn about academic expectations and university conduct
  • Attend worship service
  • Get ready for what could be some of the greatest years of your life

9:00AM – 3:00PM | Student Check-In

Friends of Concordia Room
Time to begin your college journey! Start here and receive your Falcon 1 Card and other important information. All students should check-in at the Friends of Concordia Room BEFORE attending any activities.

9:00AM – 3:00PM | Residence Hall Move-In

Residence Halls
After you have received your Falcon 1 Card at Student Check-In, drive over to your respective Residence Hall. The Hall Staff will check you in and give you your room key.

9:00AM – 4:30PM | Falcon Central

University Offices
Now’s the perfect opportunity to stop by the various offices on campus to take care of last-minute details before classes begin, i.e. Bookstore, Accounts Payable, Residence Life, etc.

Come meet the fantastic upperclassmen who will be leading you through Orientation! First-time, residential, commuter, and transfer students are all invited to attend.

9:00PM – 9:45PM | Small Group Summit #1

Your Specified Location
You have been placed in a small group for the duration of Orientation that will be led by one of the Orientation leaders. The people in gour group may become some of your BEST friends at CUW, so don’t miss your 6 Small Group Summits scattered throughout the weekend. Plus, if you attend all 6 Summits, you will receive a special prize during Co-curricular fair on Sunday! The location of your Summit meetings can be found on your name tag and folder. There are lists posted on the walls of the Field House, as well as on the CUW App.

9:45PM – 10:30PM | Trail Mix(er)

Your Small Group is going to clash with some others through various high energy and interactive games.

10:30PM – 12:00AM | “Come on and Safari with Me!” – Pop Music Trivia

Conclude the evening with music trivia – we play pop songs, you and your groups try to be the first to name the name and artist. The quicker you answer, the more points you get!

8:30AM – 9:45AM | Faculty/Student Breakfast

Wonder what your academic program entails? Want to have a good relationship with your professors? Come meet and eat with the faculty who’ll be teaching you! Stop by this event anytime between 8:30 and 9:45; this is a come-and-go event.

10:00AM – 10:45AM | Small Group Summit #2

Your Specified Location
This is your second small group meeting. Your leader will help you learn about essential information, such as how to do laundry, what is there to do around CUW, where is your mailbox, etc.

1:00AM –1:00PM | Concordia Essentials Rotation

Various Locations
This event is a rotation. Walk with your Orientation Leader from your Small Group Summit to your first Concordia Essentials Session. They will then guide you to your second session.

Title IX & Bystander Intervention (Todd Wehr Auditorium)
Through the use of videos, stories, and small group activities, this session increases students’ ability to notice situations in which someone needs assistance and improves skills for effectively intervening in a variety of situations. This session will also cover the definition of consent, what does not constitute consent for sexual activity, and CUW’s H1A Pledge. Finally, meet some of our Title IX Coordinators and learn how to PARE Your Risks and who to contact if you have questions or concerns about any sexual harassment situations. 1ST Rotation: Groups #1-14, 2ND Rotation: Groups #15-29

Academic & Career Success (Chapel of Christ Triumphant)
What does it take to be a successful college student? At least these three strategies: knowing where to get help, taking ownership of your education, and planning for your future! Students will learn about the resources available on campus, including the Learning Resource Center, Career Services, and Academic Advising. This session will also include discussion regarding the importance of academic honesty and the CUW Academic Dishonesty Policy.

7:30PM – 9:00PM | CUW Gone Wild: Virtual House Party

Todd Wehr Auditorium
Virtual House party is a simulated party experience that you do not want to miss! Student actors will role-play party scenarios that might occur at a house party, followed by a debriefing session where students can discuss their reactions to the scenarios and learn information to help make safe, informed decisions.

Come show off your dance moves under the stars! If dancing isn’t for you, come listen to the music and enjoy snacks and smoothies!

Breakfast will be served as usual in Siebert, but if you are interested in hearing more about the Black Student Union or multicultural student resources, bring your breakfast into the Lakeshore Conference Room.

10:00AM – 12:00PM | Crazy Quicksand: Sand Castle Competition, Tie Dye & Sports Various Locations

If you want to build a sand castle with friends, tie dye that awesome white shirt you got during your service project, or play sand volleyball, swing by Regent’s Courtyard! If you want to play waterslide kickball, head over to Kapco Park. If you want to play basketball, make sure to visit the Field House. Pick your favorite activity or hit up them all!
