Winter Orientation Schedule

Winter Orientation for New and Transfer students starting in the Spring Semester at Concordia will take place Friday, January 20th and Saturday, January 21st, 2017.

Orientation - a Great Way to Start

It's hard to list all the reasons why orientation is a great way to start your CUW education, but we'll try:

  • Meet new friends
  • Get comfortable on campus before classes start
  • Learn about all the great activities you can take part in
  • Enjoy beautiful Lake Michigan
  • Learn about academic expectations and university conduct
  • Attend worship service
  • Have a ton of fun
  • Get ready for what could be some of the greatest years of your life
  • And so many more!

Friday, January 20th

9am-12pm | Check In/Move-In (Albrecht Lounge)

Stop by to Check-in to pick up an orientation schedule, register for parking, collect meal plan coupons, and pick up a free t-shirt. If you are going to be living on campus, also stop by to check-in with a Residence Life staff member who will direct you on getting settled in.

*Offices Open

Need to talk to some people on campus about payments, move in, classes, etc.? Feel free to use this time as it will be the only time that most office will be open during Orientation weekend.

*Chapel @ 9:45am (Chapel of Christ Triumphant)

Concordia celebrates our Christian faith every day in Chapel with prayers, song, Scripture, and a short message in a brief 20-minute service. Our regular time is at 9:30am but today we meet at 9:45am. You are encouraged to attend our Chapel service today as a new member of our community!

*Popcorn Friday in Student Life @ 10:30am (Student Life Office – AL 107)

One of our very favorite traditions in Student Life is Popcorn Friday. The delicious smell will fill the hallway, so be sure to stop by for a free bag!

12:00-1:00pm | Lunch with Faculty/Involvement Fair (Siebert Dining Hall)

*Students -  your meal plans are active. Please use a meal swipe to enter for lunch. If you do not have a meal plan, please see an Orientation leader to receive a coupon.

1:15-3:15pm | Concurrent Sessions

*Please attend the sessions that are of most interest to you during each time slot.

Session 1 – 1:15-1:45pm

*Financial Aid/Work Study (Lakeshore Conference Room)

Questions about your Financial Aid packet or how to fulfill the work study portion of your packet? Come hear from our staff and then sit down with a staff member one-on-one (if desired) to get your individual questions answered.

*Residence Life (Albrecht Lounge)

Learn about policies, tips, and tricks to enhance your living experience on campus.

*Wellness on Campus (Siebert Dining Hall)

Wellness encompasses many things, from physical safety on campus, to the medical and psychological services on campus, to fitness and healthy eating! Campus Safety, our Dining Hall staff, Counseling Services, and Health Center will share highlights on how to be WELL during your time at CUW.

*Transfer Student Panel (Courtyard Conference Room)

Get a first-hand perspective on what transferring or starting at semester at Concordia looks like from our upper-class transfer students.

*Faith @ CUW (Rogate Chapel – positioned off of Chapel of Christ Triumphant)

Wondering what it means to attend a Lutheran University? Are you wanting to strengthen your faith while you are here? Are you exploring what faith can mean in your educational journey? Come sit and chat with our Campus Ministry team to have these and other questions answered.

Session 2 – 1:55-2:25pm

4:30-5:45pm | Goodbyes & Dinner (Siebert Dining Hall)

6:00pm |Skyzone Trampoline Park (Meet in Albrecht Lounge)
