Metamorphosis...has always been the greatest symbol of change for poets and artists. Often subtle and mysterious, yet at the same time dynamic and sometimes violent, the phenomenon of Metamorphosis is one of the most profound acts in nature. It strikes a major theme in society, environment, and theology alike, with great significance to those observing or experiencing it themselves. One only has to see the process of change in caterpillar to butterfly, or wonder at the growth of a young child into adulthood to appreciate, yet not fully understand, the complexity of the transformation. It quite simply generates a sense of wonder.
