CDC Adjusted Guidelines (December, 2020)

December 3, 2020

Quarantine timelines have changed from 14 days to 10

Dear Concordia Community,

Blessings to all of you on this Christmas season as we celebrate the birth of Jesus. I cannot thank you all enough for your dedication to Concordia and our Covid Conscious planning. Our success is a team effort!

Since the beginning of this pandemic the University has followed CDC guidelines. Yesterday the CDC adjusted some important standards, that we will also adopt. Starting immediately, the length of quarantine for close contacts to a known positive COVID-19 case has been reduced from 14 to 10 days as long as they remain symptom-free. This reduction in quarantine will be implemented retroactively. Human Resources Department (HR) and the Student Health Center (SHC) will be updating quarantine end dates.

The CDC has also laid out an option for a person to end quarantine at 7 days after exposure if they test negative (on day 5 or later) and have no symptoms. Any individual who would get a test within these parameters, needs to provide evidence of their negative test to HR or the SHC and get clearance to return. At this point the University is exploring the possibility of testing those in quarantine, however at present we cannot offer that service.

Any close contact ending quarantine earlier than the recommended 14 days, should continue to monitor themselves for symptoms, honestly complete the daily symptom tracker when required and contact HR or SHC if any symptoms appear.

Thank you again for our fantastic Fall semester and I look forward to Spring!
