A quick update from President Ferry after the Wisconsin Supreme Court ruling

May 14, 2020

Out of care and concern for our employees, we will continue temporary remote work.

Dear Concordians,

Greetings to you on a cloudy Thursday. Seems like each year during finals week we certainly have a cloudy, rainy day, but in retrospect this means spring and commencement are here!

As many of you probably have heard by now, late yesterday the Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled the Safer at home order was invalid. Out of care and concern for our hundreds of employees on the Mequon Campus, we will continue Temporary Remote Work as we complete a guide to assist with a safe and prudent return to our campus. Please do not come to campus until you have communication from us and/or Vice President/Provost approval to do so. Please know we understand that many of you will have ongoing concerns due to school closures, high risk situations, etc. and we are taking every care to ensure situations are reviewed and we have proper sanitation/hygiene procedures available.

Furthermore, several counties have already issued their own order which continued the Safer at Home type guidelines. Employees in locations that have county guidelines should abide by their county orders accordingly; this includes counties such as Milwaukee, Brown and Dane. As the situation evolves, we will remain in close communication with you. We will monitor the ongoing governmental guidance and adjust accordingly. We will communicate Concordia University guidance on a return to campus as soon as we are able.

Employee remote work

The University implemented work from home (Remote Work) procedures for all faculty and staff as of March 23, 2020. Vice Presidents will continue to work together to ensure certain campus-based operations are adequately staffed. Our priority is employee health and well-being, while ensuring that the university sustains important business functions. Each department will provide Remote Work plan updates, as needed, to HR. We will evaluate Remote Work and communicate updates to all employees as needed during this time.

You can help us too by staying current with our updates located on the websites. We will use these updates to announce new actions, answer common questions, and guide you to the best places to receive assistance on specific topics. www.cuw.edu/covid19 or www.cuaa.edu/covid19.

If you have further questions regarding remote work please contact your supervisor, Vice President, or Human Resources.

We Are Concordia; hearts together. Thank you for continuing to work together to ensure a safe, high quality, healthy environment for one another and for the students we so dearly love.

Sincerely,
Rev. Patrick T. Ferry, Ph.D
President
