Concordia University Wisconsin’s Music Department will open its 2016-2017 concert season Tuesday, October 18 by presenting internationally acclaimed pianist Kirill Gliadkovsky in a solo recital. The 7:30 pm concert will be held in the university’s Chapel of the Christ Triumphant, 12800 North Lake Shore Drive, Mequon.
The program will feature the complete Symphonic Etudes by the late Robert Schumann, as well as the complete original version of Modesto Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition. Since making his first public appearance at 6 years old, Gliadkovsky has toured extensively on three continents performing piano and organ recitals with orchestras in various Russian cities, including Moscow’s prestigious Bolshoi, as well as in Italy, Poland, Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom and throughout the United States. He has performed at various U.S. music festivals, such as Aspen, Ventura, and Music on the Mountains.
Tickets, priced at $8, will be available at the door. All students 17 and Under will be admitted FREE.
His performances have been met with great enthusiasm by both audiences and music critics in Europe, Russia and the United States. Los Angeles Times music critic Josef Woodard wrote: “…the intensity and a nicely honed musicality left the audience stunned…enthralling…all in all, a gripping and masterful performance.”
