Concordia University Wisconsin’s fall Leadership Series breakfast on Thursday, Oct. 20, will address the critical issue of health care delivery in the United States.
Those attending the event will be among the first to hear an exciting announcement Concordia University President Patrick T. Ferry will share about a multimillion dollar investment being planned on Concordia’s campus that will benefit southeast Wisconsin. The 7:30-9 a.m. breakfast will be held in the Siebert Lutheran Dining Hall, 12800 North Lake Shore Drive, Mequon.
Ferry also will lead a panel of experts in discussing how a collaborative environment of academics, business and health care is shaping the future in southeast Wisconsin. He will share insights about the best ways for higher education to lead in this endeavor.
Joining him on the panel will be Daniel Sem, dean of CUW’s School of Business Administration, along with Linda Samuel, dean of the School of Health Professions. Working in harmony, the two deans are redefining the relationship between business and health care with an eye toward better serving the community.
Sem has more than 20 years of experience in health care entrepreneurship and innovation, first in the biotech industry and then in academia. Co-founder of several companies, he works with universities, industry and government to build shared business development resources for the region. His passion is to help student and community entrepreneurs turn their dreams and innovative ideas into sustainable business models with lasting economic and social impact.
Samuel is in the midst of a six-year study exploring the impact of an interprofessional rehabilitation clinic on emotional intelligence, stereotypes of health care professions and interprofessional competencies among graduate rehabilitation students.
The popular Leadership Series is a semiannual event that recognizes and encourages ethical leadership principles and provides networking opportunities for business and community leaders in a dynamic, Christian higher education environment.
