Selah, the newest Concordia University choral ensemble, will combine with The Chapel Choir for their annual spring concert on Saturday, April 22. The 7:30 p.m. concert will be held in the university’s Chapel of the Christ Triumphant, 12800 North Lake Shore Drive, Mequon.
Selah was founded in 2012 by Dr. Alexa Doebele and features an auditioned ensemble of 23 women who will perform a wide variety of both sacred and secular repertoire, including Franz Schubert’s setting of Psalm 23, “O My Love,” by Matthew Emery, and “Priere De La Croix,” by David Edmonds.
Doebele, who teaches classes in music education and parish music, directs both groups. “Selah” is a Hebrew word that means musical interlude, and is comprised of students from a wide range of majors.
Other upcoming concerts include The Milwaukee Festival Brass, Saturday, April 29 at 3:30 p.m. and The Alleluia Ringers, Sunday, April 30 at 3:30 p.m.
Adult tickets for this concert can be purchased at the door for $8, while those 17 and under will be admitted FREE. For more information on music events, call 262-243-4405 or visit www.cuw.edu/music.
