Each year the Cross Country Programs host at Concordia University Wisconsin the President's 5K Run/Walk. The run/walk is a community service project that helps raise money for the Cross Country and Track Field and is our way of honoring our President Rev. Dr. Patrick T. Ferry.
All proceeds of this year’s race will go towards helping CUW XC/TF student-athlete Lilly Johnson who is battling Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
On May 20th, 2016 Lilly Johnson, a student-athlete at Concordia University Wisconsin, was diagnosed with stage 2B Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. This means that Lilly has multiple areas of her body, specifically behind her right clavicle and in front of her heart, that are infected with cancer tumors. The “B” signifies that she experiences night sweats and fatigue. Due to chemotherapy treatments Lilly has been unable to work this summer and will miss the fall semester of 2016. Lilly plans to come back to school for the Spring semester of 2017 however, the financial burden of medical expenses, past and future, along with the cost of schooling has made the road back a rough one.
