Shantytown 2015

Habitat for Humanity works to eliminate substandard housing and homelessness from our world. To support that effort, the Ozaukee County Chapter of Thrivent Financial, Concordia University of Wisconsin Street Team and student chapter of Habitat for Humanity, are hosting their Annual Shantytown event on October 2nd and 3rd at Concordia University Wisconsin.

High School youth and their adult chaperones collect pledges / donations for the Habitat for Humanity projects in Ozaukee County and join other high school youth as well as CUW students on the CUW campus Friday, October 2nd. You will build Shanty houses that your group will sleep in, participate in mini service projects, bonfire and rally event that evening. Saturday morning you will get up, eat a light breakfast and board buses to get to service projects with the homeless and with Habitat for Humanity.

Tentative Schedule

Friday, October 2nd

  • 5:00pm - Arrival, registration and set up Shanty, pizza dinner will be provided
  • 6:30pm - Judging of Shanties for prizes by local architects
  • 7:00pm - Group gathering
  • 7:30pm - Service projects
  • 8:30pm - Bonfire, music and festivities for all

Saturday, October 3rd

  • 6:30am - Wake up, bagels, juice and coffee for breakfast, take down shanties
  • 7:45am - Load onto buses for Servant Activities
  • 8:30am - Servant Activities
  • 12:00pm - Dismissal

We are glad you have decided to join us for this great event. You will be helping raise funds for Habitat for Humanity here in Ozaukee county and you will have a great time learning more about homelessness.
